TSP Travel Project

Twenty Stories Publishing invites you to explore the world with us. We are actively seeking creative submissions of nonfiction prose, poetry, artwork and photography that reflect your experiences as a traveler.

We are searching for unique travel stories from all over the world, but “travel” doesn’t require leaving one’s home country – or even city. Everyone is a traveler in one way or another, and we invite you to share reflections from your life’s journeys.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

  1. What topics or destinations should I write about?

Any travel-related topic or destination is fair game. The most profound experience sometimes comes from the most mundane setting, and the most frustrating experience sometimes makes for the most entertaining tale. Whether you have just traveled to Tahiti or to a local grocery store, we want to share in any on-the-go experience that sparks your creativity.

  1. Who is eligible to submit works?

Anyone may submit creative works for consideration; we welcome submissions from around the world.  Regardless of whether you took a trip yesterday or 20 years ago, your travel experiences are relevant to this project. Even if you don’t consider yourself to be a writer or artist, this is your chance to commit your thoughts to paper (or canvas, or film…) and get published.

  1. What kinds of “creative works” are you accepting for this publication?
We are currently accepting the following submission types for this project:
  • Nonfiction Prose *
  • Poetry
  • Artwork **
  • Photography **

 * Prose submissions should be no longer than 4000 words.

** Both Color and Black & White images are welcome. Image resolution must be at least 300 DPI.

  1. How many pieces may I submit?

Each individual may submit up to 3 creative works. (Any combination of prose, poetry, artwork and/or photography is permissible as long as no more than 3 works in total are submitted by any one individual.)

  1. Can I submit works that I have already published elsewhere?

Unfortunately, no. We are only interested in original works that have not been previously published (online or in print).

  1. What is the submissions deadline?

Submissions are currently being accepted on a rolling basis. We anticipate closing the submissions window in late 2009, but no specific deadline has been set.

  1. How does the publishing process work?

After you submit your work(s) for consideration, our editorial team will review it and respond (within 6-10 weeks, in most cases). If your work has been selected for publication, we will provide you with a list of next steps and our projected publishing timeline. Due to the quantity of works received, we are unable to provide comments and feedback on every submitted piece.

We must exercise some discretion as editors when selecting which pieces will best benefit readers. We will respect your confidentiality, and we will do our best to fairly judge submissions and keep you actively involved in the editing process.

  1. If selected, where will my work appear?

The selected works that come out of this project will be published in a perfect-bound book that will be printed, marketed and internationally distributed by Twenty Stories Publishing. Excerpts of your work may also appear on twentystories.com.  But rest assured, you will always be credited for your work.

  1. Will I be paid?

Yes. If your work is selected and published, you will be compensated in proportion to the book’s commercial success.
